Yacy-Ara Froner has a BA in history from the Federal University of Ouro Preto in Brazil (1988). She has a MA in Social History from the University of São Paulo (1994). She has a Ph.D. in Economic History with an emphasis in Cultural Heritage from the University of São Paulo (2001). She also has graduate course work in Conservation and Restoration of Museum Collections at CECOR-UFMG (1992) and has taken the Preventive Conservation of Museum Collections' course at the Getty Conservation Institute (1995). Currently, she is an associate professor in the Undergraduate Program of Arts and Undergraduate Program of Conservation and an advisor in the Graduate Program at the School of Fine Arts-UFMG and in Built Environment and Sustainable Heritage at EA-UFMG. She also works as a consultant and researcher in Preventive Conservation, Art History an Material Culture of Collections, is an associate researcher at LACICOR (Conservation Science Laboratory), and is a coordinator with the researcher group known as ArCHE (Art, Conservatio & History - Environment).
