Ashley Duhrkoop is a PhD candidate in Art History, specializing in Twentieth Century and African art. Her research interests include power figures and associated divination systems, the colonial and post-Independence periods, provenance, and the historiography of the field of African art and its display in Western museums. She holds an MA in Critical and Curatorial Studies from Columbia University and a BA in Art History from Bard College. Prior to relocating to Richmond, Ashley held curatorial positions at Dia Foundation for the Arts and other contemporary art galleries in New York City.
