Stephanie Spence received her M.A. and Certificate of Advanced Study from the Art Conservation Program at Buffalo State College, State University of New York where she specialized in objects conservation, with interests in Asian lacquer and metals. Stephanie received her B.A. in Art Conservation with a minor in Art History from the University of Delaware in 2007. She completed graduate internships at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts in Salt Lake City, Utah and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Okinawa, Japan where she published on her research into the application of femtosecond lasers to sample cross-sections from paintings. Stephanie’s third year internship was at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri where she assisted in developing an alternative treatment method for loss compensation on ceramic objects involving three-dimensional imaging and printing applications. Stephanie most recently joined the Conservation Department at the Toledo Museum of Art for an Advanced Conservation Fellowship in the Objects Conservation Lab.
