SUNY Buffalo State
Graduate Fellow in Art Conservation
Buffalo, NY
TAMIA ANAYA is a Graduate Fellow specializing in paper conservation at the Garman Art Conservation Department at SUNY Buffalo State. Her earliest experiences in conservation include internships at the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, and Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. Tamia’s scholarship is motivated by her interest to facilitate and support cross-cultural relationships between local and international conservation groups. For this, she completed summer internships at both the Cineteca Nacional de Mexico and Instituto Nacional de Antropoligia e Historia in Mexico. Tamia aspires to serve as an advocate on behalf of conservation globally by engaging in preventive conservation measures and collaborating outside the museum setting with communities that seek to protect their cultural patrimony. For her third-year, Tamia will complete an internship in paper conservation at the Library of Congress. In the Fall of 2020, Tamia will receive her Master of Arts and Certificate of Advanced Study in Art Conservation.
