Graduated from the first Art Conservation degree in Portugal with the final thesis on conservation and study of wooden sculpture of St Francis of Borgia - polychromies and supports - defended in 1995. Specialization in medieval to baroque sculpture collections for the Portuguese Ministry of Culture and as well on objects and gilded altarpieces for the Catholic Church (which owns half of the national cultural heritage) including for several UNESCO world heritage sites. Besides, due to work done for Lisboa 94, European Capital of Europe, has compelled by the Ministry of Culture embraced the task of the conservation of the bronzes of the Ajuda Royal Palace and later, for the St. Jorge castle, Lisbon. Managed, independently or as team member, numerous conservation projects of polychrome wood, terracotta, stone, glazed tile and ceramics for Alcobaca Monastery, Cristo Coventry, Museum Nacional de Arte Antiga, Museu Grao Vasco, to name a few. Knowledge in inorganic and organic materials and preventive conservation proceedings with particular interest in scientific analysis and examination methods applied to art conservation. Additionally, taught conservation for under-graduated students and lectured in Portugal, Spain and the US. In Memphis since 2010, five-year for the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art granted additional capabilities in the curatorial field. In the US he has been working as objects and sculpture conservator in private practice for both museums and private collections in this part of the South.
