Julie A. Reilly received a BA, Magna cum Laude, in Anthropology from Towson State University in 1979 with minors in Art and Mathematics.  She earned a MA in Anthropology from the George Washington University in 1982 with concentrations in Conservation and Applied Sciences. She completed pre-program and post-graduate internships at the Baltimore Museum of Art and the American History Museum, Smithsonian Institution with Geoffrey Lemmer, Dianne van der Reyden and Martin Burke.  Ms. Reilly worked for the American History Museum, Smithsonian Institution; the NPS Applied Archeology Center, National Park Sservice; the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation; and the Winterthur Museum. She was Adjunct Associate Professor for object conservation for the Winterthur  University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation and an Adjunct Professor for the Museum Studies Department at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She was Associate Director for the Nebraska State Historical Society where she served as Chief Conservator and the founding Director of the Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center in Omaha, Nebraska for over fourteen years.  Reilly is a consulting conservator; has spoken and published widely on conservation and collections care and is coauthor of the book Preventive Conservation for Historic House Museums, for which she was awarded a AIC Kress Publication Fellowship and support from the Parks Foundation.   She is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Institute for Conservation. She has been a Fellow of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works since 1989; a Director of the Board of Heritage Preservation; and was a member of the AIC Collections Care Professional Task Force for over ten years. She is a Peer Professional for the General Services Administration's Public Building Services, Excellence in Architecture Program.   Ms. Reilly was Director of Development for KANEKO, a nonprofit cultural organization that encourages and explores creativity in the arts, sciences, business, and philosophy and is now the Executive Director of the Joslyn Castle Trust, overseeing the preservation and restoration of the Lynhurst estate.
