Gillian received her MA in Conservation of Art on Paper from Camberwell College of Arts in London, UK. Prior to joining the staff of DHPSNY, she was the National Endowment for the Humanities Preventive Conservation Fellow at CCAHA. She has worked in several private conservation workshops in the US and UK as well as at Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum in New York, and has held internships at the Royal Library (Windsor, UK), the Centre for Photographic Conservation, the Black Cultural Archives, Victoria & Albert Museum, and The Children’s Society Archives (London, UK). Gillian also serves on the moderating board of Materials Information and Technical Resources for Artists (MITRA), an initiative that aims to provide online resources for artists and arts professionals on archival- and conservation-grade art materials and techniques.
