Marcela Estevez is the Head of Conservation in the Preservation and Reformatting Department. Marcela has been a Conservation Specialist with University Libraries since January, 2016. Her conservation experience includes positions at the Huntington Library, the National Library of Argentina, the Schlesinger Library of Harvard University, and an extensive apprenticeship in a private art and paper conservation practice in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Marcela holds an MFA in Painting from the National Institute of the Arts in Buenos Aires, and an MA in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida. She has been awarded numerous scholarships, grants and fellowships throughout her career, including the Association for Research Libraries’ Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce. In addition to her experience as a conservator, Marcela has worked as Library Operations Manager for Collection Development and Technical Services at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, and as Youth and Reference Librarian for the Clearwater Florida Public Library System.
