Don is an accredited conservator of ICON (UK) involved in collaborative research and museum projects, advising and investigating aging, conservation, and repair materials for plastics in art and design, advising on collections care and display, and the conservation of contemporary and traditional objects and sculpture. He has an MS in objects conservation from the University of Delaware / Winterthur Museum Program and began his career in the UK as a sculpture conservator at the Tate Gallery funded by the Henry Moore Foundation, and at the Victoria and Albert Museum. He initiated further plastics research projects at Tate funded by the Gabo Trust, before becoming Head of Conservation and Collections Management at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, University of East Anglia, where he taught BA and MA students. He managed projects, properties, redevelopments, and teams involved with collections, exhibitions, and historic interiors when Preventive Conservation Manager of the Royal Pavilion and Museums, Brighton, and Historic Royal Palaces, London. Don has been a guest scholar in the Getty Conservation Institute and a guest researcher in the Getty Research Institute; he is a Fellow of IIC.
