Tami Lasseter Clare, Ph.D., is the Director of the Regional Laboratory for the Science of Cultural Heritage Conservation and Assistant Professor of chemistry at Portland State University in Portland, Ore. Her research efforts are centered on developing new materials and diagnostic tools to understand and prevent the degradation of material cultural heritage, such as artwork and ethnographic materials.

Clare holds three patents and is the author of more than twenty scholarly articles, books or chapters. She also serves on the Oregon Arts Commission Public Art Advisory Council. She completed postdoctoral work at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and earned her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Washington. She previously lectured on historic preservation at the University of Pennsylvania from 2005 to 2006.
